

Accomplishments
In his first three years on council, Pitts led or supported many issues in line with his platform. His first-term priorities were to support public safety, improve transportation, maintain a low tax rate, and support economic development. Below are some of his accomplishments in his time on council:

Led the push to hire two more police officers as requested by GPD in 2021;

Supported the opening of two new fire stations;

Supported the funding for the Firearms Training Facility for GPD;

Led the way to make Blue Hole more family friendly by banning alcohol at the park;

Led the push to create a citizens advisory committee for a potential road bond;

Worked with constituents, council, and staff to add two new traffic lights in District 5;

Pushed staff to find ways to lower the tax rate for 2020-2021;

Led the resolution against Suddenlink on behalf of the citizens of Georgetown;

Supported 2020 economic development projects that will create 700+ jobs in Georgetown;

Supported economic development projects that will create $68,000,000 in private investment in Georgetown;

Led the successful reform of HARC that helped generate over $10,000,000 additional private investment in restoring historic buildings and compatible new development that created over 20 new businesses around our Historic Downtown Square.
